Fazenda Pedra Redonda: A Legacy of Quality and Family Heritage

Fazenda Pedra Redonda: A Legacy of Quality and Family Heritage

At Flor do Brasil, we believe truly exceptional coffee begins with an exceptional place. That's why we've partnered with Fazenda Pedra Redonda—a farm that embodies quality, heritage, and a deep commitment to the land in the renowned Matas de Minas region of Brazil.

A Legacy of Quality and Family Heritage

The story of Fazenda Pedra Redonda is one of multi-generational dedication. It began with Mr. José Bernardes Santana, who devoted his life to coffee production. This devotion yielded significant success, winning prizes in regional contests and achieving international recognition as an International Finalist in the Cup of Excellence competition in 2014, 2015, and 2016. Today, his son, Beto Santana, proudly carries on this legacy, managing the farm and ensuring the tradition of excellence continues.

The Unique Terroir of the "Round Rock"

The very name of the farm, Pedra Redonda, means "round rock," a nod to the large stone landmark visible from the headquarters, anchoring the property to its landscape. Located in the Matas de Minas—a beautiful, forested area of the Atlantic Forest—the farm sits at an ideal elevation, with coffee cultivated between 950 and 1,400 meters high. This unique terroir is perfect for producing high-quality specialty coffee, featuring cherished varieties like Catucaí and Catuaí. Our beans are processed using meticulous Natural and Pulped Natural methods during the harvest season from May to August.

Cultivating a Sustainable Future

Fazenda Pedra Redonda is a pioneer in ecological responsibility, proving that quality and sustainability go hand-in-hand. The farm holds the distinguished Rainforest Alliance certification and is a member of the BSCA. Their commitment to conservation is tangible:

  • Over 38.7 hectares are dedicated to native forest, preserving the rich local fauna and flora.

  • An additional 21.4 hectares are set aside as permanent preservation areas, protecting crucial water courses.

  • To power the entire structure, Beto invested in photovoltaic panels, ensuring a clean energy supply and moving the farm toward a truly ecologically sustainable operation.

By choosing Flor do Brasil, you're not just buying coffee; you're supporting a family’s dedication to quality, heritage, and a sustainable future for the Matas de Minas region.
